Itunes Ringtones: A half-baked feature

ringtones.jpg

Bringings features to Itunes that add more value to the experience, but when these features works only for the songs bought from the Store it is the kind of tying that make people mad.

Here the Ringtones, easy to make, nice looking feature, but is not operative to those peopla that have a ton of CDs ripped in Itunes, those people do not qualify for this new added value of the most use music jukebox, itunes. I do not want to believe that the music industry forced Apple to limits this feature to the Store customers, but there is another big problem, it does not matter if you are already a Itunes Store customer and have bought tons of songs from it, there is only a bunch of ready to ringtones songs and your ripped library will not take advantage of this feature anyway.

Tying ringtones to Itunes Store is not a good costumers-oriented decision. So Apple added a half baked feature to cash in its strong costumer portfolio and forgot about those Mac users that because they library was not bought from Itunes do not deserve it.

Maybe Itone (for mac user) and iPhoneRingToneMaker (for windows users) have a big acceptance in the Iphone community and we could easily enjoy our custom ringtones.
