Apple’s Windows of opportunities will be open for a while
Is Apple opportunity to takes on Windows shrinking? Could be, but these opportunities will be there for a while, when you notice that less than 2 percent in UK has upgraded Windows, IT managers are expecting Service Pack 1 to start buying Vistas based PCs, any country or city switches to linux dissatisfied with the poor performance of Vista and that everyday a major celebrity person switches to the mac platform frustrated with Windows.
Apple hasn’t advertise Mac OS X as it deserves and to takes on Windows will require extra effort from Apple, but nothing impossible to achieve. With a good marketing campaign, spreading all over the world the capabilities and advantages of Leopard, Apple can create an even bigger Windows of opportunities.
And as I said in a recent post: Why not give Mac OS X Lite for Windows’ users to taste it for a month or two, word of mouth is very very important here, PC users don’t know that they can run Windows applications in Mac with Parallels or Bootcamp.
The possibilities are frozen for a while for Apple to take them, if the Mac advertising continue this way, much of thoses possibilites will gone when the Service Pack 1 arrives.
People loves those funny and entertaining ads (I really do), but Apple needs to be more aggressive marketing the platform to gains more hardcore PC users.
