Newton, Emate or Mini Ibook?
I was, I am and I will be a Newton fan, but there is not chance for the Newton right now, Apple has put too much features in the iphone that launching a Newton has not sense, maybe they want to use the name for some kind of lightweight portable, but the Newton as we know it, I don’t think so.
But instead of a new Newton why not an Emate or a Mini Ibook? The Emate was a successful device aimed a K-12 students made from drop resistant material, lighthweight and packed with nice features.
The new Emate/Mini Ibook will have:
Mac OS X Games Edition (a OS X Version ready for mobile games)
A drop resistant material enclosure that will protected from kids’ day by day use.
Wifi
60-80 GB Hard Drive
Touchscreen
Photo Camera/video camara
Can acommodate an ipod (dockable connection)
Wireless Sync with your ipod, iphone and Mac
Memory Sticks Reader
Not CD/DVD
Direct to TV connection
Social Connections (Emate-Emate sharing)
Speakers
These features and the drop resistant material will make it the number one choice for parents that don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars in portables repairs, games, internet ready and social networking would make it more appealing to young children, itunes and tv connection definitively would guarantee a new and untamed market for Apple.
