imac_iphoto1 Dell puts its eyes on Apples business

Dell has been the king of computer industry, selling millions beige boxes (dull PCs), but as people changed its taste Dell started to suffer massive business decline, nobody wants to buy dull boxes anymore, instead of they were looking for commodities equipments that make their life more pleasant, something that Apple has been providing since introduction of the egg-shaped iMac and continue with the out-of-this-world design of the iPhone.

Now Dell has put its act together and launched a new line of Display with an ultra innovative design and features that match Apple offer, following its desire to abandon in some part the Beige PC design, Dell yesterday announced the Dell Studio Hybrid Pc and Inspiron, a new redesign PC that is without doubt a refresh into its product line. Today’s news is that Dell is testing a new MP3 player to be launched this September.

Is Dell a threat to Apple’s Business?
It will depends on how Dell execute its plan, but I don’t think they can do any harm to Apple core business, Dell has sold iPods, then launched the Dell DJ MP3 player trying to grab some users from the ipod, but hasn’t been a threat to Appe Music business.

It is easier to launche products, spend millions in advertising campaigns and try to give Apple a fight, but big companies have failed, take Sony for example, an excellent computer line “Vaio”, marvelous design and good features; in audio, they have the Walkman, which has failed to attract buyers and to compete with the iPod, the Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone business is suffering the economy downturn and is bleeding money every quarter unable to compete with others mobile phone and even with the iPhone.

Take Microsoft, Microsoft has spent millions trying to derail Apple Music Business, creating Playsforsure for its partners and later abandoning it, then the Zune, which has been a real joke, nobody is buying Zune and now Apple is taking some of Windows Mobile marketshare with the iPhone, giving more innovative features.

So, If Dell is trying to conquers Apple Core Business, they better have a good design plan, because Apple doesn’t use to take hostages when it comes to computer design, Apple has been innovating for years and much good looking PCs have come and go and none of them have been a real threat to Apple Core Business: Design.
