While we expect something harder from Apple in response to the recent Microsoft ad campaign, Apple went to the bones this time in an ad that is what we all have been asking, will the $300 millions investment in advertising transform the user experience or will it help better Windows? Apple characterized this moment with PC counting the money money he/it will invest to change people perception and how much is left to fix Windows Vista.

It is really one of the most in your face ad that Apple has launched and is clear what is the target. The ad is hilarious and the other one called “V Word” is making fun of Vista mess.

The ipod and the iphone have proven to be the most sucessful duo, the ipod has taken the portable music industry by storm and now the iPhone is doing the same thing for the mobile industry, but Apple is not cashing or taking advantages totally in the marketing arena.

Here is the point:
The marketing behind the ipod was and is still excellent, trendsetting, joyful and has done its job, put the ipod everywhere in an entertainming manner, everybody enjoys those well done ads, the music, the images, the strategy worked for the ipod. With the iphone, Apple has turned to the other side, showing what to do with your newly iphone. While this is a direct to your brain marketing, it is totally different from the ipod one.

Good, the ipod and the iphone have received thousand of free TV exposure, people showing their favorite mp3 or smartphone to everybody and this represents a bigger than expected and unpaid marketing campaign.

But hey, Where is the Yanqui’s based iPod or iPhone? Or the David Ortiz fully loaded iPod?

And there is where Apple is still sleeping, there is a bigger and more fanatic audience out there that is willing to have a Baseball or Basketball iPod, loaded with the most important moments of their favorite team. It won’t be any difficult for Apple to partner with the MLB or other Sport Association in USA or in any other country. Imagine a Manchester United iPd, damn, it will even give more and more exposure to the ipod, because the Manchester fanatics really love everything about their team. Apple has the RED Product iPod, why not put the Sox at the end and give us a piece of collection?

It is time for Apple to come to the Social and sport is one of the most social event in the country with millions of fans worldwide that buy T-shirts, caps, bats, watches, mugs and everything related to their team, imagine the potentials and advantages the will and have if it is marketed toward this sea of ready to spend people.

Adobe Systems is committed to bringing Flash to the iPhone, according to CEO Shantanu Narayen, even though Steve Jobs said last week that Flash isn’t suitable for the iPhone

But Narayen isn’t wavering. “Flash is synonymous with the Internet and, frankly, anybody who wants to browse the Web and experience the Web’s glory really needs Flash support,” he said during a conference call Tuesday with investors, according to a transcript at seekingalpha.com.

He is sure adding Flash support to the iPhone isn’t a problem. “We’ve evaluated the SDK , we can now start to develop the Flash player ourselves and we think it benefits our joint customers,” Narayen said.

But he was also diplomatic, saying twice that Adobe wants to work with Apple.
“We think it benefits our joint customers. So we want to work with Apple to bring that capability to the device,” he said.

BBC shows including Life on Mars, Spooks and The Mighty Boosh have today been made available to buy on the iTunes video store, as first revealed by The Register on Friday last week.

The move is part of a drive to increase the revenues brought in by the public broadcaster’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide. The BBC charter allows Worldwide to exploit rights over via DVDs, magazines and other sales, and now downloads at £1.89 per episode.

The video is encoded in standard definition H.264 (AKA MPEG-4 Part 10) without DRM, in common with other content on iTunes UK and compatible with PC, Macs, iPod and iPhone, as well as other mobile devices.

A total of nine complete and currently-running series are available on a download-to-own basis. Downloads via the BBC’s free seven-day catch-up application, iPlayer, are made unplayable by DRM software after being stored for 30 days. Flash streams are also available for seven days after broadcast.

The first episode of the current series Ashes to Ashes is already available to buy on iTunes, despite also being available for free on iPlayer because it was repeated five days ago. Shows will appear on iTunes seven days after the first broadcast.

Ad Infuse, a leader in delivering highly personalized mobile advertising experiences, today announced a new mobile advertising unit designed specifically for the Apple iPhone. The new solution enables brands to uniquely reach the millions of iPhone subscribers in the US and Europe, bringing together video and browsing formats for the first time. The company introduced the new product to meet the growing demand from top brands and premium publishers for a more visual, rich multi-media experience that can leverage the unique mobile web capabilities of the iPhone.

The new ad unit is already in production with several early advertiser and publisher partners, with global availability later this month. Ad Infuse’s platform will now automatically recognize the iPhone, and deliver advertisements optimized specifically for that device. The multi-format capability enables advertisers to gain broader reach with their target audience, delivering presence in more areas where subscribers are spending time on the mobile device. Publishers are now able to open up more of their content for more compelling multi-format campaigns, ultimately gaining from higher revenue opportunities.

“The iPhone has undeniably set new benchmarks in providing a rich and dynamic user experience for the mobile Web,” said Liz Ross, President of Tribal DDB West, one of the world’s top digital marketing agencies. “Being able to leverage its full potential, especially in video, is an exciting development for creating innovative and compelling ways to interact with consumers.”

Ad Infuse offers full flexibility through a choice of video, browsing, or integrated multi-format campaigns. Utilizing progressive downloading for video, the solution delivers the same user experience as streaming but with a much higher image quality, ensuring the best presentation of an advertiser’s creative assets. Video ads and content are able to stretch and rotate with the phone without any interruption, delivering a seamless user experience. In addition, dynamic ad insertion allows real-time targeting, and advertisers can rotate multiple ads throughout a campaign to keep it fresh and interesting for consumers.

“Ad Infuse continues to spearhead innovation in rich media and multi-format advertising solutions,” said Brian Cowley, CEO of Ad Infuse. “As top publishers create content optimized for the iPhone and premium brands look to interact with consumers in exciting new ways, our new solution delivers exactly the kind of user experience and targeting capabilities the market is seeking.”

Since its debut in June 2007, almost four million iPhone’s have been sold worldwide according to Apple. And the user experience is drawing more users to the mobile web. In a recent study by M:Metrics, almost 90 percent of iPhone owners try to access the mobile web, compared to 10 percent of regular cell-phone users.

Yes, Advertises Leopard like it markets the iphone, the ipod and itunes. What about a new TV campaign for Leopard? 300 new features, none of them advertised on TV? Let’s hope the ads aren’t ready for primetime yet, but they are new ipod touch ads on the pipeline. What I found very very strange is that OS X is the brain of some of the most important devices in Apple product line and in some future products, why don’t have a decent TV spot that show some of those 300 features, even comparing Vista Wow with Apple Yeeehhhhaa! They has been reluctant to market OS X the way it deserves.

If Apple wants to continue grabbing marketshare from Windows, it must show what OS X is capable, if they (Windows Switchers) don’t have nothing to compare, they won’t switch. In today market what you don’t advertise won’t be bought.

Let’s wait for those clever ads, maybe we get to see some Macpro, Macbook and AppleTV ads or maybe not.

Updating my collection of Apple’s ads I stopped for a moment to watch some of them: think different, imacs, those “I am a mac/pc”, but what really catched my attentions were the ipod+itunes. In those ads Apple appealed to a broader audience developing sensitive colors and music, mixing form with movement and providing a delicious 30 second ad for everybody.

Notice that in the itunes+ipod ads Apple never uses a computer, and that is the main idea behind the ipod, not to be attatched to anything, flows, walks away and bring excitement and joy to the end user, those sillhouetes moving and jumping in a juvenil way give Apple a demographic advantage, young people place themself in those ads.

Itunes+ipod can provide the most interesting and delightfull user experience on the market right now, but the real power power behind the success in itunes+ipod is really the smart marketing that has translated this experience to a tv spot that makes you jump when you see it, simple, clear and vivid, itunes+ipod ads are Apple most succesful ads, because they reached its targets.

Let’s dream for some kind of itunes+ipod style ads for Leopard, maybe Apple surprises me.

PS: I am uploading all the Apple ads (900~ mb) to whataboutmac account in Youtube, you can watch some of them at: http://youtube.com/whataboutmac.
