Apple Sold Over 250,000 iPhones in Canada

Out of the 6.9 million iPhones sold during the last quarter, Rogers Wireless accounts for about a quarter of million of them. Rogers has definitely increased its subscribers count and average user revenue after getting Apple’s phone in its inventory. Apple reported record mac sales, 2.6 million macs sold

Apple today reported its fiscal fourth quarter ended in September, which goes like this: Profit: $1.14 Billions EPS: $1.26 Gross Margin: 34.7%, up from 33.6% YoY Cash on hand: $25 Billions Apple shipped 2,611,000 Macintosh® computers during the quarter, representing 21 percent unit growth and 17 percent revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 11,052,000 iPods during the quarter, representing eight percent unit growth and three percent revenue growth over the year-ago quarter. Quarterly iPhone units sold were 6,892,000 compared to 1,119,000 in the year-ago-quarter. “We’re very pleased to have grown revenue 35 percent and to have generated $9.1 billion in cash in fiscal 2008,” said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s CFO. “Looking ahead, visibility is low and forecasting is challenging, and as a result we are going to be prudent in predicting the December quarter. We are providing a wide range for our guidance, targeting revenue of $9.0 to $10.0 billion and earnings per diluted share between $1.06 and $1.35.”

Will Wall St hammers Apple Stock Value this time?

Every quarter when Apple reports its earning numbers and when we all think that the stock price will be upgrade based on its recent quarter sales, analysts consensus and estimations drag down the price based on Apple guidance for the next quarter. Apple always gives lower guidance for the next quarter and this is the opportunity Wall St analysts are always looking to put Apple stock price to its lower, but doing so and not taking into account the present quarter is something without any business logic and don't make sense to report earnings every quarter if what is really important is the guidance for a quarter that doesn't even exist. Analysts should focus on what is delivered in the present quarter, evaluate what went wrong, how much was sold or left in the channel and how much Apple grew in comparison to others in the same sector. Apple has been doing a tremendous job and this quarter will be more than excellent, but it won't help its share value to recover from recent month leakage and together with an automatic devaluation from analysts it won't even gain what it deserves.

Can Blackberry or Palm gives Apple a run?

Apple wants over-the-air music downloads for 3G iPhone

Apple is in talks some of the major music labels over a deal that would allow next-generation iPhone owners to purchase music tracks directly from the handset over cellular wireless networks, according to the New York Times. Owners of the company's first-generation iPhone can already accomplish this via a mobile version of the iTunes Store that resides on the handset, but they must be connected to the Internet via a high-speed WiFi connection to do so. The arrival of faster 3G cellular network access alongside the next iPhone, widely expected for an announcement during the second week of June at Apple's developers conference, would make it more "technically feasible" for Apple to offer the over-the-air route, the Times notes. Survey shows some facts about the iphone users

In a survey of iPhone owners, Rubicon Consulting found that a third of iPhone users carry a second phone in addition to their iPhone. I'm one of those folks: I have a T-Mobile phone that I use for personal calls; I use my iPhone as a business phone and for mobile Web and email. I didn't want to break my T-Mobile contract and I'm happy paying for a second phone to keep work and home separate. I didn't think I was the only one with two phones, but 33 percent seems surprisingly high. Here's something the survey didn't tell you, but you might have guessed: iPhone users have lots of disposable income. The most heavily used data function on the iPhone is reading (but not writing) email. More than 75 percent of iPhone users say it has led them to do more mobile browsing. About 40 percentof iPhone users say the iPhone has trouble displaying some websites they want to visit. About 50 percent of iPhones replaced conventional mobile phones, 40 percent replaced smartphones, and 10 percent replaced nothing. Appleinsider: Apple snags 14 percent of US-based PC retail sales in February

Growth in Apple's personal computer business continued to outpace the industry average last month, with Macs accounting for a 14 percent unit share and 25 percent dollar share of all US-based PC retail sales, according to market research firm NPD. The results -- first revealed in an investor note from Pacific Crest Securities analyst Andy Hargreaves on Monday -- represent 60 percent unit growth and 67 percent revenue growth over the same period one year ago. At the same time, overall US PC retail shipments grew just 9 percent on a 5 percent increase in revenues. Apple saw particular strength in notebook systems, which rose 64 percent in units and 67 percent in revenues, suggesting strong sell-through of the company's new MacBook Air, noted Hargreaves. "Macbook Air sales appear to be additive to total sales, rather than replacing Macbook Pro sales," he said. "We believe a new set of corporate customers make up a meaningful portion of MacBook Air buyers." Buzz Technologies releases Email Anywhere for the iPhone

In a desperate bid to increase use by corporate users, Apple is currently in production to build support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync for its iPhone device. Buzz Technologies Inc has today released Email Anywhere, an email platform that has accomplished the Microsoft Active Sync support already. The service allows any corporation to have all their emails loaded onto the Buzz Platform making them instantly available on any remote device including iPhone. The service features will allow IT departments to more easily monitor the devices on a corporate network as well as enforce security in the event of a lost device.
