Namco announced the release of its latest title, exclusively for iPad, House of Glass. Internally developed by Order of Magnitude, the game uses a freemium model, allowing consumers to try before purchasing.

House of Glass is the first three-dimensional (3D) tangram puzzle game for iPad. It brings players to a mysterious mansion where they must navigate their way through six rooms, locate hidden objects and solve an immersive plot. While it may seem relatively simple, there are more than 30 puzzles awaiting, each becoming increasingly more complicated and requiring quite a bit of moving, rotating and flipping pieces on different axes to solve. Progress is tracked through 25 possible achievements, including completion of tangram puzzles and minigames or finding specific objects. An online leaderboard displays the user with the fastest completion time. Future updates will allow access to more levels through content packs and user-generated content.

EA Mobile, Harmonix Music Systems and MTV Games today announced that ROCK BAND Reloaded is now available on the App Store. The iPad-exclusive HD version and the version for iPhone and iPod touch offers players an initial powerhouse setlist of songs from artists including Nirvana, Billy Idol, No Doubt, Nine Inch Nails and Vampire Weekend. More than 20 songs will be available today with new tracks launching throughout the holidays. Plus, for the first time, ROCK BAND Reloaded players now have a “5th Way to Play” by singing directly into their iPhone, iPod touch and iPad utilizing new vocal recognition features.

For the first time on iPad, ROCK BAND Reloaded packs delivers device-exclusive features including a Multiplayer mode where players can challenge friends live in a head-to-head split-screen environment. Flexible controls provide for ultimate customization of all play styles. The iPad game’s new “Big Drums” layout increases the interactivity of this fan-favorite instrument. Songs are now more accessible to players with custom playlists in Quick Play and quick replay using an “Encore” feature.

Other game features include a new Expert mode for experienced players along with a World Tour mode that enables players to rock six cities and 36 events earning up to 50 awards and achievements all while living the Rock N’ Roll dream. By logging into Facebook, players have access to the News Center where they can find out when new songs launch, follow friends’ exploits and directly challenge their friends’ accomplishments with a simple touch of the screen. Ngmoco, the hardcore iOS developer announced that it has been acquired by japanese DeNA for about $400 million, ngmoco has numerous social games for the iOS platform and was one of the first company funded by the KPCB’s ifund and recently received a small investment from Google ($5 million).

With more than 1,000 developers working on Apple platforms, Gameloft has established itself as one of the very first publishers on the App Store. Bulkypix today announced that following the successful launch of Snake Galaxy on the iPhone, the game has been ported to iPad and will be available on August the 4th, on the App Store.

Snake Galaxy is a three dimensional version of the classic Snake game, that has players slithering around beautifully rendered 3D planets. Your goal is simple—consume as many jewels as possible before you crash and burn. You direct the snake with your finger, guiding it toward the goodies while avoiding obstacles like giant letters, like on the gorgeous newspaper planet. With each jewel you consume, your “snake” grows a little longer, making it harder for you to avoid obstacles—and your tail.

There are point thresholds you must reach to unlock the next planet. In order to reach those point thresholds, you must eat the goodies in your path as fast as you can. There is a multiplier bar at the bottom of the screen that refills every time you feed your snake. But you must be careful not to let the bar zeroes out. If it does, you will have to start the multiplier chain all over from scratch. There are large diamonds that appear from time to time that are worth big points. Grabbing these before they vanish is critical for making it to the next stage.

The iPad makes the movement in the game feel natural and the controls make the game play beautifully accurate; you will salivate at the 3D environment of this game in motion. Snake Galaxy also features a great soundtrack, but you can listen to your own music while playing.
