I was expecting the transformation of the iPod Touch into a more versatile gaming touch device, Apple had another idea, but rumors about a 7″ iPad has inundated the internet and while I don’t believe that Apple will ever launch it as a real product, I would like to see a more gaming oriented device from Apple, games alone can drive more revenue per device that what Apple actually gets from the iPod Touch and developers will jump immediately to supply hardcore games to the new platform.

What’s needed? A real bigger screen or 7″ game-based iPad, because the iPod Touch screen is nice for casual gamers, but hardcore gamers need more real estate, so bringing a 5″ 6″ or even a 7″ game-based iPad could help transform this device into the most successful Apple could have launched and at the same time take away the mobile gaming market almost completely from Sony and Nintendo hands, which can’t compete in games price and device features.

The new 7″ game-based iPad will be always two or three step in front of everybody with features like AirPlay, iPad and AppleTV sync, front-back facing cameras, Gamecenter, iTunes-Ping and more than 220,000 titles to meet user appetite for amazing applications to power their devices.

The new 7″ game-based iPad could act like a dedicated remote control for AppleTV-based games that could be used with up to 3 7″ game-based iPad at the same time, this will help Apple keeps Nintendo Wii running behind, sales from the combination of AppleTV console and a mobile 7″ game-based iPad at the same time could eclipse those generated from the iPhone+iPod Touch and the iPad, because Apple wins selling the 7″ game-based iPad and from the games inside it.

Apple took its time and rethought how to include third-party developer tools into the iOS development, this may bring Adobe Flash finally and many other tools cut out on the last review of the iOS Development Guidelines, this could help Apple avoid federal investigations and increase the size of the already crowded AppStore with thousand new applications ported from other platforms or simply done with restricted tools. Adobe may be considering Flash on the iPhone, but only if the new guidelines work on its favor.

Statement by Apple on App Store Review Guidelines
The App Store has revolutionized the way mobile applications are developed and distributed. With over 250,000 apps and 6.5 billion downloads, the App Store has become the world’s largest mobile application platform and App Store developers have earned over one billion dollars from the sales of their apps.

We are continually trying to make the App Store even better. We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart. Based on their input, today we are making some important changes to our iOS Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 to relax some restrictions we put in place earlier this year.

In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need.

In addition, for the first time we are publishing the App Store Review Guidelines to help developers understand how we review submitted apps. We hope it will make us more transparent and help our developers create even more successful apps for the App Store.

The App Store is perhaps the most important milestone in the history of mobile software. Working together with our developers, we will continue to surprise and delight our users with innovative mobile apps.

Apple has launched Ping, its new Music Social Network where users can follow and be followed by friends, bands and everybody with an iTunes account, but Ping is not the first attempt by Apple to create its own social network related community, there are rumors that points to an imminent redesign to the Support Area into a Support Community where users will be able to collect points depending on how usefull is the information they provide to others.

But the Ping and the Community area of Apple’s support website are not the last known information about social network endeavours by Apple, it’s launched Game Center, a Game related Social Network that will collect information about games played, scores, send and accept direct challenge from other users in a multiplayer-like environment.

With more than 160 million iTunes users these new Apple Social Network could have its success guaranteed, but there is one major problem, none of them are related or unified into the same root, something that could be achieved if all of them run around an universal or unique service (mobileme.com, me.com), an excellent service that is only available to paying members.

Mobileme.com or me.com has the potential to become a real social network bringing information about your mobile usage, photos, emails, upload and download video on the go, calendar and contact sync, plus Game Center, Ping and the new Support Community.

Two keys will be important to the success of the Apple Social Networks, one: free iAds-supported MobileMe.com, where users can have its own mobile Social Network with Sync on the Go while features Like Find My Phone could be access for a monthly charge; two: interaction, how the communities/social networks interact between them and/or outside them (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, others).

Apple has too many things dispersed when they can be combined to bring more value to the end users and increase Apple user base with interaction from other Networks that will provide fresh information and green cash to iTunes and other Apple Stores, like Books, AppStore and Ping’s concert Store.

But I really believe that Apple is too slow deploying their respective communities, there’s a tremendous opportunity in Books and TV and launching one Community and later the other will only give too much time to rivals to launch similar communities when Apple only has to make one big network (Me.com or iTunes.com) and everything falls in place.

Moblyng announced today the launch of its slideshow application for the Apple iPhone. This marks the first iPhone slideshow application that allows users to create and share slideshows for display on iPhones, other smartphones and social media sites. The cross-platform application will allow consumers to:

– Create a slideshow using the photos on their iPhone (Photo Library or Camera Roll)
– Enhance slideshows with animated effects and transitions
– Share slideshows to other iPhones or any web-enabled, video-supporting phone or smartphone
– Post slideshows as a Flash Embed to social media sites like MySpace
– Post slideshows to m.moblyng.com for future sharing with friends and family

“With superior graphics and a large screen, the iPhone is an ideal device for creating and sharing social media,” said Stewart Putney, founder and CEO, Moblyng. “We have already had tremendous success with people using Moblyng on the web to create slide shows. Our new slideshow application for the iPhone makes it even easier for people to truly create and share anywhere. With Moblyng’s slideshow app, all iPhones can be used to easily create and share compelling slideshows to almost any media platform.”

Moblyng also announced today that it received more than 1 million monthly unique visitors to its mobile site, m.moblyng.com, in September. Since launch in August of this year, the site has experienced rapid growth, with millions of consumers creating, viewing and sharing social media such as photo albums, slideshows and videos on their mobile phones.

On Top Results has recently begun offering a new service to its search engine optimization and web development customers. Through the new service, customers will be able to purchase websites that are compatible with Apple’s popular iPhone. With this compatibility, the firm’s clients will open their websites to thousands of new potential customers.

When asked about the importance of making websites iPhone friendly, Keith Schilling, owner of On Top Results, commented, “Statistics show iPhone users are 5000% more likely to search the web on their devices than the owners of other handheld devices. If your website is not iPhone compatible, you are going to loose some of that potential traffic.”

With the new service, the team at On Top Results can either create a completely new website that is iPhone compatible, or create a page for an existing site that iPhone users are redirected towards when surfing on their handheld units. The software used to create the websites will automatically detect the presence of the Safari browser and redirect the user to the iPhone compatible site. Desktop users will still see the normal website when they visit.

“The beauty of this set up,” stated Mr. Schilling, “is that it works for both types of users. If your customers want to access the site at home, it looks just as it should, but if they wish to access it on their iPhone, they will be able to without any distortions or problems.”

The iPhone friendly sites can contain as much information as the regular site. They can also contain videos and ecommerce options. They are simply in a format that agrees with the Safari browser.

Speck unveiled the never before seen case design for the iPhone 3G, the Fitted. Fitted, provides the opportunity for iPhone owners to show off their own signature style and personality.

“Fitted was designed with one thought in mind: How can we make the case as appealing as the phone?” said Bryan Hynecek, Lead Designer at Speck. “In the design of Fitted, our team asked how we could really make a fashion statement with a case and make it as elegant as any other personal style choice. Why wouldn’t people shop for cases like they would for a watch, shoes or some other fashion accessory? With Fitted, we’re giving iPhone users that opportunity.”

Available in a stylish assortment of original fabrics, patterns and colors, the Fitted case series brings an authentic, custom apparel look to the iPhone 3G. The case’s form-fitting, two-piece snap together design creates a personalized and tailored appearance that, combined with its interior soft-touch polycarbonate hard-shell lining, offers real protection from the bumps and scrapes of everyday activities. The Fitted feels soft to the touch, while also offering custom-fit contours and openings that allow complete access to all controls and ports. Fitted is the perfect way to showcase individual style and will initially be released in tan houndstooth check, black-and-white plaid, and black herringbone with pinstripes, each at $29.95. Additional styles and patterns will be announced seasonally.

With over 2 million downloads for their hugely popular games iGolf and iBowl, today, SGN has launched iBaseball, the third game in a series of Wii-like games for the iPhone. Like previous SGN games released for iPhone, iBaseball leverages the innovative accelerometer mobile technology platform for the iPhone to let baseball fans, sports and gaming enthusiasts practice their baseball pitches and hitting on-the-go.

iBaseball allows players to play an inning of baseball as the pitcher and a hitter. As a pitcher, players have the opportunity to pitch to three batters with a fastball or curveball. As a batter, players try for as many hits as possible in a single inning.

SGN is the first company to have two games in the Top Ten most popular downloaded applications at the same time and iBowl is currently features in Apple’s ‘What’s Hot’ App Store. Both games reached the number one spot within a few days of their release and iBowl remained the number one download for over a week.

“We are thrilled with the success of iGolf and iBowl and anticipate a similar reception for iBaseball among gamers and enthusiasts,” said Shervin Pishevar, CEO of SGN. “It is our mission to continue to deliver these kinds of games for the iPhone and cross platform. We have an exciting pipeline of games for iPhone expected for release between now and the end of 2008 as well as regular updates to improve game play for our loyal fans.”

Pishevar continues, “Our vision for social gaming is to engage people across multiple platforms and social networks. We are striving to leverage the power of social networks on mobile devices as the vehicle for communication from any location. We see a tremendous opportunity with the viral nature of the iPhone games for connecting people from around the globe. Evidence of this vision is the Global Leader Board which allows players from across the world to compete against one another, sending game play onto international playing fields.”

SGN is taking its extensive experience in the development of original and engaging social game play and applying cutting-edge technology to create a compulsive game play experience. The development of iPhone games marks SGN’s expansion in mobile and social gaming technology, heralding its commitment to expanding the “social graph” established on social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and Hi5 across multiple platforms and form factors.

Visit the AppStore to see this game in action.

SnapMyLife, the leading mobile-web community for instantly saving, sharing, and discovering photos from locations around the world, today announced the launch of a new mapping feature for all phones. With Photo Maps, anyone with a mobile phone and mobile web access can see where the latest community pictures are being taken, whether nearby or halfway around the world. It’s now easy for all mobile phone users to use rich mapping and location features – no download required.

SnapMyLife enables anyone with a camera phone and mobile web access to snap and share photos, easily make friends, add favorites, comment, and chat. Now with Photo Maps, any mobile phone user can also:

See an interactive, global map and click on pins to see in pictures what’s going on near them, right now
Search for recent interesting pictures by street, town, or country location
Tag photos with a location (or add location automatically from the SnapMyLife iPhone application)
See where geo-tagged photos were taken, and find nearby pictures with a single click
The new Photo Maps feature builds upon SnapMyLife’s location-aware photo-sharing application for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch launched in July 2008. “We are excited to expand our iPhone application mapping functionality to all mobile phone users,” said George Grey, CEO and founder, SnapMyLife. “Now, users of any phone – from feature phones to smart phones – have quick and simple access to location, enabling them to connect with people and places near them, or near a place of interest. Users from all over the world take interesting pictures each day with their mobile devices, and we believe that delivering location features to all phones will enhance SnapMyLife as a mobile entertainment destination.”

SnapMyLife has grown rapidly since its launch in April 2008 and now boasts 500,000 registered users from around the world, 1.5+ million unique monthly visitors, and 15+ million monthly page views. Last month, SnapMyLife users uploaded and shared geo-tagged photos from over 100 countries. Today, people from all over the world, in cities from Aiea (Hawaii) to Zwaag (Holland), are sharing their mobile photos. To see where people are taking photos right now, go to http://www.snapmylife.com/maps.

Apple has been growing and growing faster than any other computer company, the success of the iPhone, the Halo effect and the mass adoption of Macs everywhere have placed Apple in everybody face, but this growing popularity has come with a high price: Quality.

Apple is known for its dedication to details on its products, from the package to the device Apple is the master, but recently and because of the high demand Apple products and services have been suffering some kind of Quality Distrophia, first the 3G connectivity in some iPhones, Mobileme undelivered promises, iPhone harline cracks on its surface and now ipods in Japan overheating.

Apple must be in extreme stress trying to satisfy million of ipod and iphone users worldwide, delivering on times and competing in hundred of markets, but the most strange thing is that the iTunes Store serves million of users daily and I haven’t heard of any undelivered promises, the iPod was suffering some surface cracks, but was resolved in its next version. This kind of situation is what rivals are waiting, just for a single spot where they can take on Apple and its products, so Apple must take these situations seriously and resolve them quickly before they start piling up.
