Steve Jobs has been taking its energy pills, yesterday he burned the Conference Call with rants about Google, RIM, Nokia and any other Apple rival that attempt to take any marketshare from Apple, but tomorrow is the day for the Back to the Mac media event and things are getting quite crazy with Macbook Air chassis all over the net, but apart from the imminent introduction of the Macbook Air what’s to expect from the event?

Well, Apple is like the KGB, you never know what to expect, but as the event shows it’s going to be about the new Mac OS X Lion, animal, the king of the computer jungle and the one that is supposed to bring Mac OS X and iOS together, speculation point that Apple is thinking about implementing iOS features in Mac OS X like Scrollers and Quicklook and a possible iOS applications environment into the Dashboard.

A revamped Mac OS X with added UI features from the iPhone and the iPad will transform the Halo Effect back from the iPhone to the Mac and to do so Apple needs to add wireless sync between the desktop OS and iOS devices, easy screen sharing for multimedia application like Facetime and a system-wide implementation of the newly AirPlay, fully control remote of your desktop computer using your iPad or iPhone with server-like features that accelerate the enterprise adoption of Apple mobile strategy.

I expect from Apple tomorrow:

• A more social Address Book with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn syncronization, map and location based features from the desktop.
• A Free Mobileme to new mac and iOS users.
• Instant wireless sync between desktop and mobile devices.
• Dockbable iPad with Screen and Keyboard.
• Facetime all over the System with Facebook Twitter and LinkedIn syncronization.
• iCal Remote for easy retrieval and sync from desktop to mobile and vice versa.
• Game Center implementation on the desktop.

Hardware:
The refresh Macbook Air with smaller screen and lighter, but faster specs and of course cheaper price. In the desktop Apple is poised to change the Mac Pro design and bring something between the iMac and the Mac Pro in price and performance, Mac users have been forced to buy an iMac when some of us really need a more robust machine like the Mac Pro, but the entry price is too high for many.

Apple is growing from all sides, its mobile business has been the engine that accelerated this grow, being the iPhone, iPod and now the iPad the cash cows that provides fresh green dollars to Apple’s bank account while the mac business has grown slowly but consistently, Macbooks and iMacs are everywhere, even in places you won’t expect to see a mac.

This growth has helped Apple get more than 10% of USA domestic computer business for the first time in years according to IDC, securing the third spot in the US PC vendor chart.

So for Apple the Mac is still relevant and for this ocasion, Apple is sending invitation for a October 20th “Back to the Mac”, an event that could shed some light about the next major version of Mac OS X and marks the end of Snow Leopard and the introduction of a whole new cat-based nickname: lion.

Lion could be a whole new Operating System that brings some iOS features back to the mac like multitouch and add more than 200,000 applications that may run freely on the desktop or inside the dashboard, this will be a revitalization of the platform together with an unified environment for easy and quick development of applications entitled to run on Macs or mobile devices.

Going back to the mac could also means providing more hardcore tools for game developers and adding new media and tools to create hardcore mobile newspapers and magazines for the iPad just using Keynote or Pages to help will accelerate the mass adoption of digital of this new kind of media in a broader market.

The reborn of Mac is due in part to Mac OS X, the power behind it and its industry-wise strength as the core, a power that has been transfered to Apple’s mobile devices with iOS and the heart of the next major revolution: AppleTV.

Apple is loosening its restrictions on the AppStore and on its way to do business, licensing DVR IP from Rovi means that every mac or iOS device could act as a wireless media hub for other iOS or non-iOS devices that accept AirPlay.

Today news is that the next major release of Final Cut Pro will be delayed to 2011 as the closer date and that new features and a complete interface overhaul could be put on hold until 2013, this news has been around since the begining of the year, Apple is putting too much resources into its mobile business and the Mac as a platform is relegated to a second class, the mac platform is still virgin, there is a enormous potential within the Mac OS X and its applications, but Apple success in the mobile business has changed its main focus, now the Mac is seen as the perfect mobile platform and not as the graphic design universe, a title that Apple keeps to its chest, but that has been losing market buzz because Apple transition from a computer market to a mobile busines.

The Mac is growing, slowly and the Halo Effect is working, but just when the Mac is poised to grow a little faster Apple launched the iPad, another mobile device that will in one way or another cannibalize the Macbook and the whole OS X for desktop and there is not sign that
a full-OS X tablet could hit the market any date soon that could help the mac desktop business to grow exponentially.

There’s nothing new in Mac OS X, not innovations that capture new users imagination, the system is taking a long vacation, there isn’t any rumor about what will be added to the next 10.7 or any new implementation that could help the whole platform expand for itself, but We are hearing about merging iOS features with the Mac OS X desktop to help mobile applications to run freely, this is nothing new and the platform is getting dust without its own innovation cycle and while Apple polishes the iOS Microsoft is adding new feature to Windows 7, those features are already inside Mac OS X and there is nothing to fear, but perception is that Windows 7 is new while Mac OS X, even with the same features, looks old and quasi-abandoned.

Apple stated that they has transformed into the bigger mobile company in the world and that’s a good thing, but at Mac OS X expense, all major implementation, new features, tweaks and more are added to iOS, the little brother.

I would like to see Mac OS X advertising elsewhere, new features that transform how We interact with computers and new and amazing applications working on Mac OS X, the mobile business is good, thank God, but I spend more time working on my Mac Pro than surfing the net with the iPad and from a business perspective Apple is not taking advantage of Mac OS X as a real and competitive OS to displace Windows in any major market, it seems that Apple is satisfied with how Mac OS X is only related to actual mac users.

Recently approval of some of the most unthinkable applications at the AppStore and the imminent inclusion of DVR functionalities inside the AppleTV with the licenses Apple acquired from Rovi point to two main ideas, 1) Apple is pissed with the Hollywood/Music industry and its greedy actions against Apple’s iTunes revolutionary ideas, not supporting movies/show rentals at $.99; 2) Apple woke up and realized that this is a win-win situation, where selling/having the most apps the more both parties win (Apple/Developers).

Is Apple afraid of Android? Nope, Microsoft’s Windows is by far BIGGER than Android against the iPhone and Apple has managed to keep the pace in innovation and customers satisfaction, Microsoft can’t say the same. Apple has a devilish plan and it’s developing it day by day, so there’s tooo much to wait from Apple in the not so far future (Search with Siri, Maps with Placebase, iTunes on the cloud with Lala, Face Recognition with Polar Rose, HDR with Imsense, DVR with Rovi licenses)…. want more?

A Verizon iPhone? who cares… maybe next year Apple decides to add a Memory Slot to the iPad, vdieo camera, a dock station, wireless sync, free mobileme.com accounts, unified Apple ID for all Apple properties, add Twitter to Ping or just a dashboard like subsystem in Mac OS X 10.7 to run iOS apps, who knows…. Apple is so Apple that everything is more than possible, Apple is poised to take the whole mobile business on its shoulder and the main difference between Apple and its rivals is that with Apple always deliver the most easy to use innovations or alternatives.

• Ping will be tweaked to meet the higher standards in social network but from a music selling perspective and Facebook will have to rethink its greedy conditions against Apple.

• NFC and location based apps will help businesses attract more clients and provide instant rebates to the iPhone or iPod Touch users, plus a Siri based product and service locator could mean more green money for Apple and partners.

• Adobe will be put to the test, talking and bashing Apple for the not inclusion of Flash, an application that was only recently available to use in Android, We will see Adobe asking for time to test the water, now it’s time for them to deliver what they have been promising with Flash and don’t come with that all videos need to be optimized for Flash mobile, this is bullshit.

Adobe announced the Adobe HTML5 Pack for Adobe Illustrator CS5, this pack provides initial support for HTML5 and CSS3 and extends the scalable vector graphics (SVG) capability in Illustrator, making it easier to design, deliver and optimize compelling content for mobile devices and the web.

By delivering this extension and supporting open standards, Adobe empowers developers, publishers and designers to make their own choices about how to create, distribute and access content. The HTML5 Pack lets web designers and developers take advantage of the latest advancements in HTML5 through enhanced integration between Illustrator CS5 and Adobe® Dreamweaver® CS5 software. SVG generated by Illustrator can be displayed directly in compatible browsers and Illustrator can be used to generate CSS code for styling of HTML content. The HTML5 Pack for Illustrator CS5 is immediately available on Adobe Labs as a free download, at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/illustrator_html5.html.

The HTML5 Pack for Illustrator provides features that enable users to take advantage of the latest developments in HTML5, CSS3, SVG and Canvas for easy multi-screen authoring. The SVG and Canvas enhancements also simplify interactive web content development. Designed to complement the recently released HTML5 technology release for Dreamweaver, the technology enhances integration between Illustrator and Dreamweaver, making it easier to design and develop with the latest, emerging web standards. Users can also create web widgets with Illustrator by generating dynamic vector art for data-driven web workflows, and map artwork appearance attributes from designer to developer tools by exporting from the Illustrator Appearance Panel to CSS3 for streamlined styling of web pages.

The HTML5 Pack extension for Illustrator CS5 is available for both Mac OS X and Windows and can be downloaded for free from Adobe Labs at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/illustrator_html5.html. For more information, please visit: http://www.adobe.com/go/illustrator_html5.

When it comes to Apple…. there is nothing written until Apple writes it, Apple is constantly evolving, changing and transforming itself into a brainstorm, manipulating the media against Adobe and taking millions in free press and then with open arms says welcome back developers, a move that weaked Adobe public perception, a lot of mac users decried how they feel about Adobe, but what is really worse is that in the fight between Apple and Adobe, Apple not necessarily lose this round, instead, it won million of new iPad users, million of web developers that sacrified its time and convert their clients’ flash sites to HTML5.

Apple is out to win this time around and while phandroids or Apple haters believe that this is Apple vs Microsoft all over again, this time Apple learned how to move its pieces, knows how to play hard ball against everybody, carriers, partners and rivals, but even if Apple vs Microsoft repeated again, Apple is the one to win because it has proved to have more leaner, cleaner and rival-proof strategy than its closer rival.

Apple is not the Apple of 10 years ago, Apple takes more risks and challenges, it’s learning from inside how to keep ahead of competition, bringing real and usable features to its products, but Apple is changing so fast that it’s totally impossible to bet against it, today is Ping for music, tomorrow could be Ping for books and movies, Apple has been reluctant to include any Social Network feature inside Mac OS X, but this hasn’t stopped Apple from creating its own Social Network and challenge Facebook Music in the process.

Now developers will create its mobile applications using their favorite tools, easier, faster and richer and will help solidify the AppStore a lot more.

In an ultra strange move, Apple is telling everybody what to expect in the next major iOS update for the iPad, the 4.2 update due in November will bring some iOS features found in the iPhone like Game Center, Folders and Multitasking, plus Wireless printing an AirPlay, but this is the first time I’ve seen Apple providing a route map (even with the obvious features) for its OS, I mean, I’ve seen how Apple promoted Mac OS X features in the WWDC and deliver two or three months later, but to the iOS not.

I found that this move could send a signal to rivals that are now launching weaker and poorly conceived tablets and putting even more pressure for newcomers trying to derail the iPad domination. By the time rivals reach the iOS 4.2 features by features the iPad will be in its second incarnation, better graphics and faster processor and a better and competitive price just to move more iPads.

Taking the AppStore success as a measure and how quickly it was replicated by rivals (RIM, Google, Nokia), We may imply that there’s a strong need for an AppStore for Mac OS X that accelerate the introduction of thousand new ad-based applications to the Mac and help developers profit, it will provide fresh green cash and will take the mac platform to a whole new level.

But…. Will I use an ad-based Mac OS application? Of course, We have been using ad-based applications in the iPhone for years and nobody has been hurt, Apple has a golden egg on its hands and the introduction of iAds plus faster internet connection everywhere, the reality of a Ad-based desktop application is clearer everyday.

I can be implemented the iPhone way, where non-popup screen jumps over the users and try to sell something, it has to be unnoticed and with user permission, ad-based applications should has its System Preferences On and Off switch for users to cut down ads from every application or a Pay-to-Remove Ad that will give something back to the developers if the users opt out.

Apple has a patent application for Advertisement in Operating System created by Steve Jobs, that could see the light of days in the not so far future.

Apple has all the pieces, an advertising agency, the OS and thousand of developers ready to profit from their sharewares and systems utilities. It’s a matter of Apple’s time.
