Wisht List: Apple TV on steroids

I would like to see some improvement on Apple TV, that Apple polishes this little box and turn it into a home media server with features that suit every member of the family, here is what I want on Apple TV: 1. Media Server If Apple adds more HD space and more processor power together with a multimedia version of Mac OS X Server that receive our iphone, ipod and digital camera content wirelessly and broadcast it to every single device on the house. 2. Live Email A home server that let you see your incoming emails in a widget while watching your favorite tv program. 3. Tags r US A tagging system that let you mark any given program and that the tagged program get recorded in the background and upload it to your ipod or iphone for your traveling pleasure. 4. The usual DVR functions Record live tv, picture in picture, ad skipping and Parental Control. 5. A Learn More System: A direct connection to Wikipedia or WikipediaTV, something that let you understand what is being talked on tv, a reference system that update you as it goes, collecting words, cities, countries and personalities for an On Deman or for a later visit. 6. iPod-iPhone Marketing could drive more revenue to Apple

The ipod and the iphone have proven to be the most sucessful duo, the ipod has taken the portable music industry by storm and now the iPhone is doing the same thing for the mobile industry, but Apple is not cashing or taking advantages totally in the marketing arena. Here is the point: The marketing behind the ipod was and is still excellent, trendsetting, joyful and has done its job, put the ipod everywhere in an entertainming manner, everybody enjoys those well done ads, the music, the images, the strategy worked for the ipod. With the iphone, Apple has turned to the other side, showing what to do with your newly iphone. While this is a direct to your brain marketing, it is totally different from the ipod one. Today Microsoft chairman and mastermind, Bill Gates, announced that the software giant is giving away million of dollars in developer applications with a new iniciative called DreamSpark, which will provide professional software tools available at no charge to high school and university students worldwide. Is Blu-Ray coming to the Mac any day soon?

Now that Toshiba conceded the kingdom to the Sony backed Blu-Ray technology and everybody is aligning to support the new kid on the block would be easier for Apple to incorporate the next DVD technology in the whole Mac and imac line. Blu-Ray has been adopted for almost every pc maker that didn't waste time incorporating both formats (HD-DVD and Blu-Ray) in desktops and laptops, but Apple has been evaluating which one support, now it is the time to add this technology to the mac and the perfect ocasion is the next Apple Developer Conference in June. Apple is an active member of the Blu-Ray Association. But the final decision is up to uncle Steve, now there is not roadblock and not reason to keep avoiding it, Blu-Ray is a perfect technology for video producers that are eagerly waiting for the new media to arrive to the mac, remember that DVD Studio Pro can burn to HD-DVD, but not Blu-Ray, so now that the HD-DVD has passed it could mean that Apple should add the BR format to any application, including imovie. Yahoo! News: Apple beats Microsoft, Motorola in Q4 phone sales

Even after being on the market for less than half a year, more iPhones sold in the fourth quarter than Windows Mobile phones in the U.S., according to research from Canalys. Canalys researchers estimate that the iPhone had 28 percent of the U.S. converged-device market in the fourth quarter of 2007. Research In Motion, with 41 percent, had the largest share of the market. Windows Mobile phones had 21 percent share of devices sold in the quarter, falling into third place behind Apple. Worldwide, the lineup is a bit different. Nokia, which typically dominates around the world but not in the U.S., sold 52.9 percent of smart phones worldwide in the fourth quarter. RIM grew its share of converged-device sales to 11.4 percent, up 121 percent over the same quarter in 2006. Yahoo!, MTV and Real’s Rhapsody consolidated their Music Services
