The ipod and the iphone have proven to be the most sucessful duo, the ipod has taken the portable music industry by storm and now the iPhone is doing the same thing for the mobile industry, but Apple is not cashing or taking advantages totally in the marketing arena. Here is the point: The marketing behind the ipod was and is still excellent, trendsetting, joyful and has done its job, put the ipod everywhere in an entertainming manner, everybody enjoys those well done ads, the music, the images, the strategy worked for the ipod. With the iphone, Apple has turned to the other side, showing what to do with your newly iphone. While this is a direct to your brain marketing, it is totally different from the ipod one. Good, the ipod and the iphone have received thousand of free TV exposure, people showing their favorite mp3 or smartphone to everybody and this represents a bigger than expected and unpaid marketing campaign. iTunes Now Number Two Music Retailer in the US

Apple today announced that iTunes® (www.itunes.com) is now the number two music retailer in the US, behind only Wal-Mart, based on the latest data from the NPD Group*. Yahoo!, MTV and Real’s Rhapsody consolidated their Music Services

Rhapsody will be the exclusive on-demand music service for Yahoo!, replacing Yahoo! Music Unlimited. Motorola has the razor in the neck with its mobile phone business, explores alternatives

Motorola, Inc. announced it is exploring the structural and strategic realignment of its businesses to better equip its Mobile Devices business to recapture global market leadership and to enhance shareholder value. The company’s alternatives may include the separation of Mobile Devices from its other businesses in order to permit each business to grow and better serve its customers. “All of our businesses have exceptional people, products and intellectual property and the ability to achieve category leadership in their markets,” said Greg Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are exploring ways in which our Mobile Devices Business can accelerate its recovery and retain and attract talent while enabling our shareholders to realize the value of this great franchise.” The company does not intend to discuss developments with respect to the exploration of strategic alternatives unless or until its Board of Directors has approved a definitive transaction or the process is otherwise complete. CES 2008: JVC expanded their micro system line with ipod docks

The new JVC UX-GP5 is a three-piece desktop audio system that offers the usual CD and AM/FM playback, but also offers convenient iPod playback through an iPod dock built into the front panel. When not in use, the dock is concealed behind a flip-down door. For iPod playback, the door flips down, revealing the dock. Other features include a total power output of 70 watts, a surround mode that creates a wider sound field through the systems two speakers, illuminated function keys and a front analog audio input for connecting other devices for playback through the system. The main unit and both speakers are finished in black. Controls and the iPod dock are illuminated in blue. JVC today unveiled a new line of audio products with a focus on design, connectivity, and simple setup and operation. Announced here in conjunction with the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the new line offers performance, ease-of-use and integration with iPod® players. Dual iPod ® Docking Station The new dual dock NX-PN7 accommodates two iPod players side-by side, charging them simultaneously and offering playback from each through the dock’s speaker system. Supplementing iPod playback is an AM/FM tuner and adding to the unit’s versatility is a clock and timer. In addition, there’s an analog audio input for connecting other devices for playback.
